"JJ's Corner - Aufgeschoben ist nicht aufgehoben" (Postponed For The Next Game)

Hello everybody and thanks again for tuning in to another edition of JJ’s corner.

I guess the best way to start this off is by quoting a famous quote: “Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong” (Murphy’s Law). As easy as it may seem that we where able to run and pass some on the Cologne Falcons 2 weeks ago, that was not the case in yesterdays game against the Berlin Adler. I’m honestly still shocked at what happened. At times our offense would do great, and right when you think we were headed in the right direction, a holding penalty or off-sides or some kind of penalty would come out of the play.
We went out to Berlin with the intensions of winning with the thought of securing home field advantage for the playoffs. Our dreams where not smashed away from this loss but just postponed for the next game again Hamburg Blue Devils (HBD).

I am just so mad right now. Once again I think the referees played a big part in the game. On one particular play, we ran a dive play to Michael Andrews and he ran it into the end zone for a touchdown. The ref then pulls his flag out and calls a holding penalty. That was very crucial for us because that was the points we needed to win the game. Maybe I am being to hard on the ref’s because I think we hurt ourselves as well. Trust me, there is enough blame to go around, but in the end, we (the players) made the mistakes. Not focusing and making bad judgment decisions on our part, costing us that game. Though the weather was bad and refs made some bad calls, we (the players) still did not take over that game like we have done in the past.

Even though a lot was going wrong for us, at the end we still manage to try and put together a winning drive. With Kelvin at quarterback and Bollo at Receiver and 50 seconds left on the clock, Kelvin takes the ball and runs for about 37 yards. We now have 30 or so seconds left with no timeouts. Kelvin then takes the ball, and when you would think that he is going to run for the first down, and go for a field goal, he passes the ball to Yoan Schnee. It hits Yoan in his hands and then pops up into the air for an Interception. And that’s how it ended.

In the end, “even the best teams at times lose a game or two”. But we are still the best team and we will prove that against HBD. We will just have to continue to trust in our coaches and go out and put together a win. Is it possible? Of course. Will it happen? Hopefully. The last game is behind us and now we must focus harder on the game this week against our rival HBD. Hopefully I am 100% for this game and I am able to return to form and that is running hard and fast and providing a true one two punch with Michael Andrew and myself.
