The Mataranka Falls - 4 km one way with a lot of sand - nearly like Fraser Island, just without luggage ...

Afterwards we did the botanical walk and went for a refreshment back to the thermal pool, with a shower afterwards. Who´s on the way up here? Hippies, they´re bathing the dust of the last five weeks out there...
After putting on 30+ sun-protecion we went to the take-away, just following the smell of fresh chips, yum, with a lot of ketchup. And again the movie We-Of-The-Nerver-Never was on, schmaltzy! Since it´s late already we decide to stay, it´s a nice place here. & since the pool is supplied with flowing water we can use it again.
Stay a while, wear a smile! :-)

Laundry day in the blue bucket - it was the dust-trousers turn and, man, they were dirty!... Whilst the detergent worked Ingo bathed some plastic-fishes again.
And it´s such a nice spot "to give it a go", as a woman remarked with a smile - and she is right:

The silence here at the green, clear stream, bordered by palms is just wonderful!

The trousers were dry in no time & so we went ... yep to the thermal pool. There are heaps of people, talking silently, enjoying. 'til... "KANN MAN HIER STEHEN?" (Can you stand in here?) Very loud, very german, very embarrassing.
Another young "man", his "occupation" probably was being son, since those all-inclusive tours certainly are not cheap, did complain: The pool looked bigger in the leaflet (oh, kiddo!).
An elderly man asked his wife in an unbelievable loud tone, if she had found the springs already & she answered as loud at least and very detailed, too.
Didn´t they see the glances they got from other visitors? There is nothing to be proud of being german in situations like these...

After that "spectacle" we needed some more chips with ketchup-, BBQ- & vinegarsauce - as self service-. & not like in Germany where you get a very small portion for an extra 20 cents!

We´re back at the Mataranka-Homestead, parked backwards. A small rental car arrives - veeeery circuitous, veeeery slow & with a looot of space the car is parked backwards, too. Who gets out? Sure, a woman ;-)
She sees the sign "drive through to thermal pool", and on another one you could read "150m". Now guess what, yep, she gets back in the car and drives the 150m! Some people sure are strange...

As well as the other day: A car arrives, four people get out, a couple with two smaller children. The parents, with hats, ask the children to put on their hats as well, very good. But then... they fetch a very small child with nearly no hair out of the car, ... this one doesn´t get any protection from the sun and heat. We saw that more often, sadly.
For a last time yummy bucket chips with vinegar - someone feeds the jukebox, chooses the Forrest Gump -CD and very loud we listen to "Sweet home Alabama". Memories of Broome 1995, Sun Pictures.

In the meantime we arrived on an actually very nice campground right behind Mountain Creek. Actually nice, if people just took their rubbish with them! Roper Hwy & Gulf Savannah Track, and at Roper Bar we saw this sign:

Near the road three bloated donkeys are stinking. Nearly no Blowies, maybe we are lucky. Ingo´s preparing dinner, we´ll have noodles with STAGGS straight chilli chunky chicken, described correctly like this: "Straight Chilli n: Texas for no bean, more chicken chilli. Known to cause spontaneous celebrations. Seasoned chunks of tender chicken, blended with vine-ripened tomatoes, onions, chillis and spices. By itself or as an extra chunky topping, it´s mighty tasty chilli. So don´t be chicken to try it. - See the taste!" YUM!

Later on we´ll have a nice fire - without potatoes. Should I.. naah, if I buy potatoes, we won´t have fireplaces anymore...
