Hervey Bay - the showers are that cold, my fingers go numb. We leave the car there and take - each with ca 10 kg luggage in an unhandy duffel bag - the ferry to Fraser Island - guess we can hitch-hike there.

But only locals help you out, we don´t look good enough for the noble tourists... A long walk with the heavy bags through sand, this can take time and power! Finally someone let us hop in.
For the last kms to the Campgroud we take a walking track only- and a big, only half-dead, yellow snake is lying in the way. With a lot of courage and a goodstartup we jump over it - and finally arrive really groggy - walking through sand is no "walk"!

The showers are pretty cold. Lake McKenzie - beautiful! Clear - and freezing cold, no way to hop in there!

There are signs everywhere, reminding you not to leave anything outside, since the dingos will take it for sure.
In the night, what a noise!
Next morning... there is toilet paper everywhere! And a desperate, unequal couple - a very tall asian guy and a voluptuous blonde - who didn´t read the signs. And who had to go on without any toilet paper...
After breakfast we saw them again. He tried without any success and the same strategy over and over again, to start the car (Hertz?). Oh man, give some power there!

We get a lift back to the ferry!
And we arrive in one piece!!The fisherman were quite filled up and never was I so much afraid of being catapulted from the load area. We raced over anything, it was horrible!

Fraser Island is beautiful - but never again without an own 4WD!
