Adventure Tours... dunno if they sang "Waltzing Mathilda
" last night. Their generator for the flood light simply was way too loud. That is adventure!!!
Weīre in near distance to Alice on "our" Rest-Area with free view on a
Britz
.
Itīs simply plain awful here, itīs buzzing & fizzling - how many Blowies in average go on one human being? They simply suck!!! Relaxed reading or writing is impossible! Sky is cloudy, but itīs warm

Alice Springs
... hot showers -
for free even! - sadly still misused. Lunch at
KFC
. Yummy and they have AirCon! To use their toilets you have to get a numerical code from the counter - chaos reigns.
Running errands and then a regular vegetarian von PIZZA HUT
, then bak to the Road Side Stop. & wow, itīs cooling down! With T-Shirt, blouse, 2 Fleece-pullovers & a wind-jacket it was tolerably ok. Cold nights here!
You think so? In the morning it was even colder & it didnīt get any warmer! ice-cold wind. Actually we wanted to head south, but now we head direction Mt Isa. How can it get so quickly so darn cold?! 20 °C! Good thing: No Mossies - the Blowies on the other hand donīt mind the temps. Buzzing as ever.

Last night some campers came over and offered "their" BBQ to us, which we loved to accept. Nice guys, telling us the night before they sat outside in T-Shirts... I thought it was ... bearable - in T-Shirt, blouse & fleece-pullover.
This morning it was freezing cold again. We went via Plenty Hwy through pampas til Urandangi Hotel/Pub in QLD (put the clocks forward some 1/2 h).
In the middle of nowhere there is this hotel. an a bitumen "road". Loud speakers outside drone in fullest loudness "I wanna have sex at the beach", what blatant contrast. To ask inside for fuel was kinda difficult in that noise as well.
We left the tiny bit of bitumen road direction Mt Isa
, now only the rumbling and the wind are there. The sand partially blows kinda creepily over the road, solitude and sometimes itīs difficult to find the "road" at all.
We found a neat little place beside the road for tonight. Dark-red soil and some smaller trees even. The wind is still blowing ugly & cold.

Queensland - even
Coles
&
Woolworths
close down on Sundays, what chagrin. At the Touri-Info - with showers! cold for free, $2 warm ones - I cheerfully gave those two bucks away, I tell ya! Well, yips, getting old here... - here the meteorological data were presented - recovery not in sight. To the south they even have ground frost in the mornings! Es ist kalt! But the scenery is beautiful!
After the shower we went to - tadaaa -
PIZZA HUT
& to munch the slice of life away we went up to the City Lookout. Inconsolably, this is how it feels a lot like. So we go on. Itīs getting warmer and whooosh, theyīre back again, the darn Blowies.
We tried the first
XXXX
of this journey, hmmm, yum!

This morning back to
Mt Isa
, running errands, having a shower - oh, no! - I was so sure having two bucks, but hadnīt! - So in this cold weather I took a cold shower again, numb fingers included

!
Breakfast at
McD
& and on the way to
Cloncurry
, shortly before turn off direction Julius - rangy region. Arriving at the top & you think youīre in german woods looking down on the dam of the Oker -
dI didnīt come here for thisn!!!
Next we headed direction Kajabbi, then to Burke Development Rd & from where on itīs partially sealed, how nice. Partially even sealed in both directions, but you meet Road Trains on the one way parts & especially oversized Roadtrains meet you on one way & aslope ... Now weīve passed
Burke & Wills
International Airport in the pampas. A neat little place, sadly without fire-wood. The wind is nearly getting warm - it can get only better now! On the other hand... one good thing about the cold weather is: NO Mossies!
