We left Darwin in direction Palmerston - in the search of a new Roof Reck. Unsuccessfully. In Palmerston we found two big Shopping Centres & at Coles I found an offer on the back side of the sales slip letting us have a Pizza at Domino´s for only $5 - we tried it, very yummy.

We found a parking site at the Adelaide River, and camping was even allowed! Great, we thought! As I put on some pullover and jeans i felt the first stitches already - tiny Sandflies and their stitches did hurt! They left little red dots so I didn´t worry too much. We went down to the River. Some Aborigines came back from fishing and cheered over to us, a nice change.

Later when it was dark, the shock was there - the whole roof inside the car was blck from sandflies! We closed the windows, smashed as many sandflies as we could and drove away! To the Recreation Centre Palmerston, whre else??? Next morning, we had the car ready to go, the Ranger arrived, stated very unfriendly that we stayed overnoght and even though there are no signs forbiting that, we should not dare to repeat this! Not tourist-friendly, so Bye-bye!! Which was sad, actually we wanted to leave some money there - there was a second hand book shop (maybe with which-way-books?) & Target also has affordable books, but well then, we head on.

Back to Darwin, what can we do? Still 10 days 'til the Beer Can Regatta. Still 10 nights being faster than the Night-Patrol (back), who search thoroughly for "illegals". Thank you, Hertz, Britz, Maui & Co! Thanks to you tourists who do behave, aren´t welcomed anymore! Some prankster put a "w" behind the first word of the "No camping"-sign, well, how many will follow that invitation and pay heaps for the mistake?

Apply for a job in an architectural office. "Spontaneously". The secretary is shirty, I have no appointed day and hear the boss yelling on the phone.
He was friendly to me, though, had a look on my work, and told me to come back on Tuesday. But this line of business runs as "good" as in Germany. The next bosses name was "Ehrlich", which means "honest" He even spoke rudimental german. He was just not honest with me, twice in the following days he simply did not meet me .

Mindil Beaches and then back to our hiding place. The next morning quite a few traveler crawled from their hideouts and at the East Point Reserve hell broke loose - haha!
The tiny sandfly-bites were huge now and itchy .

We need new brake linings. We stoppeed at Beaurepairs and as we sat on the road curb, something happened that would be impossible to happen in Germany - a senior citizen who also waited for his car, sat down beside us! on the road curb! And started chatting to us. He had been in Germany, even worked there and called the month November "suicide month"...
That even was topped: A retired couple joined in - on the road curb!
Time to mention that chairs & aircon were available in the sales room and outside a bench in the shadow was to be found as well... cool, isn´t it?
Out of town again, back to that airstrip that goes deeper in the bush - and stay for a while!
